Be honest here.

Do you like Disneyland or not?

I used to think and maybe I still do that a lot of people have a beef with Walt Disney the person or his concept of Disneyland. I don't know why I have this feeling, maybe its because people have a globalization and capitalism problem with big companies like Starbucks and Ikea and Disneyland is the grand daddy for globalization of Americana all over the world and they are tops in their market for not just animation movies but quite successful in live action too.

So what is it...

Do you like or even love Disneyland because it speaks to your youth or was a bonding moment in your life or whatever the reason

or

Do you not like or not care for Disneyland and why.

I'm both, but it's fun occasionally to abandon all cynicism and just enjoy it. Although that's an expensive process with Disney....

i think it's a place for women and children...

i have neither.

so, you can put me down as a 'no'.

as you have both, i say ENJOY IT!

for women and children?? I am and have some- but I like Disney because my parents flew 6 kids to LA when I was 10 and we spent 3 days in total bliss at Disney Land. A few years ago my parents laughed about that trip- telling us how broke they were but they always said we'd go when my younger sister was 5. They scraped together to be able to take us on that trip so it makes it 10x more special knowing they sacrificed to make such a memorable experience for us. When I went to DisneyWorld a few years ago I was surprised how much it looked the same as when I was 10. Future land didn't quite look futuristic anymore!

DDDIIISSSNNNEEEYYY!!!

I have only been to DisneyWorld, never to Disneyland.

Beyond my favourite attractions (rides, shows, and setpieces) it is absolutely fabulous to be around so many people who are (on balance now) in such good moods.

As for Bold's comment - well, he is and will always be welcome to come down from Mount Crumpit and enjoy with all the rest of us.

What I find attractive? The suspension of disbelief for hours on end. Not many places you can find that nowadays. :)

And I might mention that Disneyland is a cheap tacky dive compared to Walt Disney World. I'm just sayin'....

I'm doing the Disney Tri in September.

I am done with Disneyland in Anaheim-although the California Adventure Park was a nice addition, and much less crowded.
It's a great place to take kids...and I still got choked up at the Fireworks at the end of the day, 'cause where else could you put so many people from so many different backgrounds and see everyone having a good time? (Well, besides a triathlon, that is!)

Disney to me was watching it on TV every Sunday night, which I have fond memories of. I'll go to the park one day just to say I've done it.

As I said yesterday, I adore Disneyland. I think it's because as a kid we would sit on Sunday nights and watch the Wonderful World of Disney. It's times that stand out in my memory, really nice times spent with my dad. We would talk during the commercials and share desert, it was great. My first dog was named after a Disney character, Sammy the way out seal :) Since my Dad died when I was 13 these are really special memories. Disneyland brings all those memories and feelings back.

Have never been to DisneyLAND, but DisneyWORLD rocks. It's the ridiculousness of it all and the extended periods of suspension of disbelief (exactly as IMAble mentions) that I like. Not to mention how darn clean and perfect it is.

Now, having said that, in terms of a vacation I'd prefer a dive trip, hiking in the mountains or a winery tour over Disney any day...but sometimes you gotta shake it up a little, right?

p.s. my husband HATES Disney and refuses to set foot anywhere near DW.

I'm in the Disney World camp, never having been to Disney Land. Even though I was from Florida during most of my visits and Floridians tend to view DW with some cynicism, I loved it then and I love it now. I can't wait to take my son. Its just plain fun - you can't help but feel like a little kid again - and Space Mountain is just the best roller coaster ever. Bar. None.

P.S. Brent has met real life Imagineers!!!!!

I've been to both Land (first at age 16 with my cousins) and World (seond, in my twenties with my family and again with friends). And I enjoyed them both ... with the edge to World because of Epcot.

Space Mountain Rocks -- Phoenix is right on there!

I.LOVE. DISNEY. for all of the reasons everyone stated above. Now that I live so close to DW I thought I would get there more often. Big problem though, Busch Gardens is only 15 minutes frommy house, DW is 45...so, I own a season pass to Busch. When kids come into town, I am always ready to make the trek to Disney. It's the place dreams come from....
btw - space mountain is STILL the bomb.

I love DisneyLand - it's the happiest place on earth in spite of being founded by a nasty Nazi sympathizer. Who cares about Walt Disney's bigotry? Not me. Just put me on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and I'm happy.

I have yet to go to California Adventure. I'd love to do the hot air balloon with smell-o-vision over the orange groves.

I have been to Disney World and it is HUMUNGOUS! Exhausting. But again - fun.

The light shows and fireworks are the best. At DisneyWorld they have a cool laser light show.

I'm really glad you got a chance to go with Little Mo and Mistriss and 3 Cheers for her willingness to function WAY outside her comfort zone. What a woman.

I love that shot of you and Mo - adorable.

I'm in two minds...

by my young recollection, I think Land is better than World - they pull off the illusion more completely at Land. World is overwhelming, but there's more to do - unless you're just there for the Magic Kingdom.

As an adult and a parent, I loathe Mr. Disney - the commercialism is over the top.

As a person, I have nothing but awe and admiration for how they are able to affect joy on so many.

I'm with Bold on this one. I've been to Disneyland, but not world. I remember having a blast, but it didn't change my life or anything. It was fun, but at that age, so was pissing on electrical sockets and stealing goats. I have other memories that mean more to me and other experiences that taught me greater lessons. For that reason, I'm not a huge fan. Call me grumpy if you want, but you asked. Later

I've been to both too many times to count. Grew up in California and lived in Orlando for nearly 18 months. I'm in the "love it all" category, though I find myself at odds with the philosophies the corporation itself espouses.

And the best time I ever had at any Disney park was when we took our nieces to Disney World. Well, maybe that and one drunken night at Pleasure Island when a guy tried to pick a fight with me, only to realize three HUGE football players from Texas A&M were just waiting so they could pound him. That was cool, too.

I love the concept (childhood stories come to life) but hate the reality (heat, crowds, ridiculously overpriced everything). I remember even being disappointed as a KID at the negative aspects.

But when this baby is old enough I'm sure we'll still make the pilgrimage and pretend we're having a good time for his/her sake. Because every kid should probably get their trip to Disneyland.
