What's in your trunk?

Your actual car trunk not the metaphysical trunk in your head. Before I go any farther I really want to thank those that I already haven't for your kind words for Mo an my resultant nutritional disconnect from reality.

I really only gave up on three meals; I mentioned the ice cream and doughnuts but for lunch, glorious lunch I went to a local brewery and had an Octoberfest beer (perhaps the second time in my life I have drank a beer during work hours), a BBQ bacon cheeseburger, garlic/cilantro steak fries, apple bread pudding with sauce and ice cream and for desert a Venti black coffee from Starbucks. It was a beautiful feast for the eyes and much humor for the peers that went with me.

That being said I didn't and don't remember tasting a thing and by the afternoon I was much more in control of myself. I went to bed early and woke up today with a hung over effect and shot legs.

What's in your trunk? I was putting my workout gear in the car today and had to push aside the extra running shoes, bike pump, helmet, bike shoes and a fuel belt to fit in the swim bucket and an ice chest for liquids. I realize I keep a spare tri uniform and running shorts in my car, a couple of old race shirts, an extra HRM strap, body glide, two pairs of socks and a workout towel plus an extra dri-fit hat. Its all extra's in case I actually forget to put something in the daily workout bag I pack in the house.

How about you?

I don't have a trunk, I have an SUV which I use to haul the dogs around as well as my stuff. I can't keep too much in it as the dogs will chew (they get very excited riding in my truck) but I always keep a few things. I have towels, extra shirts, rubber slippers, first aid kit, extra sunglasses, and a little extra money just in case.

Baby carrier backpack, kids' mini fold up chairs, blanket, court files, goggles, swim cap, gatorade, running shoes, fleece hat, gloves, rain jackets for all, diapers, baby wipes, ice scraper, helmet, bike tool, protien powder packets, massage bolster, return to take to Target, 3 pair of socks, $6, tennis ball, racquet, Freddy Fire Truck book, box of fruit snacks, bag of jolly ranchers...yep, I'm pretty much prepared for anything. Good thing I have a little covered stow away space in the back of the SUV. It's like a secret compartment. The rest is all nicely organized and still room to spare. I'm such a mom.

A pile of suits and shirts and pants left over from my previous "suit" job that may never get dry cleaned again! My workout bag with running and swimming gear was in there, but as I just got back from running at lunch. the bag is back under my desk. A box of desk items from my last job inlcuding a large picture framed and signed by my fellow Marines when I left the Corps. Two air filters and some plumbing supplies to take care of some problems in the house.

3 pairs swim goggles, 2 swim suits, pull buoy, paddles, 2 towels (1 big, 1 small), Dopp kit (aka toiletry bag), running shoes, running shorts, 3 dri-fit t-shirts, extra HRM strap, lock, gym ID card, about 3 bucks in change at the bottom, my iPod and headphones, small notepad, pencil, Swim Workouts in a Binder book in a plastic bag and 2 empty water bottles.

and a dirty pair of socks....damn i need to take those out.

All I have is my bike rack.

Hmmm. I am driving my father-in-law's (deceased) 1986 Honda and I think the only thing in the trunk are some jumper cables...
My swim stuff is usually in the bag in the back seat as well as a myriad of school activities, being itinerant and all, I keep lots of school "stuff" in my car. Don't really use the trunk tho....

Oh Stronger puts me to shame with "at the ready" stuff for kiddos! I never even had a kleenex for my daughter's nose much less all the other gear...I was a horrible mom I guess!

oh my word! um... double stroller, a pair of pants my son tried to wear to school but couldn't button (I made him change in the truck because we were late and in a moment of frustration passed i threw pants in the back and have still not brought them into the house) and umm... first aid kit. that is it. sounds so sad compared to your list. on the plus side, i get extra spending money in my personal checking account for keeping the truck tidied and vacuumed... so yeah, i'll take that instead. ;)

Glad to hear you are more grounded today. You had us a little worried.

I have all the same shit in my trunk. It's a little ridiculous. When I leave from the house for a ride, I have to stop at the car to pump up my tires, grab my helmet, gloves, glasses, water bottle, etc. It's a pain in the ass either way you work it. On one hand, if it's not in the trunk, you end up forgetting something. On the other hand, you're always getting in and out of the trunk. Either way, it sucks. All well. Glad to hear you are feeling better. We'll keep hoping for the same for Mo.

So if you don't have a car, does your trunk become your backpack?

Yeah, I have gone from the having everything in my trunk, to having nothing in my trunk and just taking the extra time to make sure that I have everything before I leave the house. Does that work every time? Hell no! And that is when I think that I should not be determined to keep such a clean car.
