The best laid plans

Driving to get the Mighty Mo at his Grandma's tonight I felt a tremendous amount of stress on me. The first week of the month when I have to reconcile all my work for the month for all my clubs is stressful enough since employees are waiting on me for lots of bonus money but this month ended weird so I am short at least two days of work to get my stuff done.

So I am getting ready to work at home for a few hours to get it done before tomorrows meeting when the bonuses are to go out. No spinning tonight.

When I got home I packed Lucille
Example
in the car and plan on going for a ride after the meeting. That plus my early morning run should be good for the day. Then I have a therapy appointment which has another 30 minutes of exercise and 30 minutes of stretching and adjusting. That should help.

Daily Grind

Well the meeting went faster than thought but the trip to the dealership went way long. I lost an hour and a half of my life to find out the service light was on because the day time running lights are acting up.

So now I only have enough time to look at all your posts today before I have to run out again. Looks like the workout in the club will now be a session on the spin bike at home tonight, then in the morning another 30 minute run.

I am only doing single sessions this week to get my body back into it and make adjustments to time and all that stuff. Should have a good weekend riding and running though.

Tight day

Wednesday is my contract sanctioned 'sleep in day' with Mistress Carol. As per my training agreement I have to sleep in and wake up with the family two days a week. That was her stipulation to me and its actually not a bad deal, I can get a few hours extra sleep and she doesn't have to deal with me putzing around the house in the dark getting ready for my workouts.

My scheduled bike session today is postponed until tommorrow as the service light in Mistress car is on and the dealership is up the road from a meeting I am in today. So instead it will be back to my office and I will hit the weights after the car is checked out.

I will put on a few more short posts this afternoon when I get to the office, so please check back.

I hate html

You know, every time I try to upgrade this site with some more graphics, I always end up screwing something up.

I tried using i.e. and noticed that the sidebar is all the way down the page again and it's driving me nuts. In Firefox it looks just fine. Please be patient and things will be better soon.

Ah that familiar feeling

Got up at 0330 to hit my gym and get in 500 meters. Now that may sound like low yards to most of you but understand that I am a very novice swimmer and have had pneumonia for the last month, last swimming on April 14th, a miserable 300 meters. So here is how it played out:
4x25 easy
4x25 @15 sec
4X50 @ 20 sec
4x25 (free, breast, kick, free)

I even used my new speedo and guess what? My butt don't sink! Mistress has been harping on me to get horizonal as I was creating a lot of drag. I don't know if was the new trunks, or the internalizing of the process while taking time off by reading the Tri Bible and websites, but whatever it was, it worked.

It certainly freaked out the night guy(me showing up at 0400, not the fact that my butt didn't sink), who last time we met I was acting like a non-member trying to get into the club.

Thank for your comments on putting up a progress board outside my office and think I will do that later this week and will post a picture for all to see online.

The Game Is Afoot

I just finished my first post-pneumonia run and felt really good. Slow but good. I took a comfortable route and just did a really slow tour of it. In the last month I can't remember wanting to get out of bed as much and looking forward to running. I woke up twice an hour, staring at my timex wondering how close I was to 0430. You would think it was Christmas Eve or I was going to a race. The Body put up a good fight, attacking first with the bowels, but I have devised devious plans to combat my Body's unwilingness to run in the morning.

In the last two weeks the temp's have gotten much better and the sun comes up earilier so I actually saw some other people out and about. They must have thought I was silly running with a camelback and a headlamp.

Due to some meeting schedules this week I had to schedule my three therepy appointments at weird times, Monday, Tuesday and Friday at strange times, at least its in one of my clubs so there is an excuse to be there. With this periodization in May, (god its May already) having these tune ups are going to be nice.

So today begins my quest to become an ironman. It seems so far away, November 2006, yet when I catalouge my weaknesses, I understand the need for haste. So let me ask all of you a question, where do you get your goal advice for training for triathlons? A book? A coach; online or in person? Online sites? A friend? Gut instinct coupled with miles and miles of stokes, pedals and strides? I am curious?

I have proclaimed my goal to all my close friends and few others. To keep the goal in focus I have to get some support from people who think this is just nuts. So far so good. I am even considering putting something outside my office, which is next to the women's locker room and across from the aerobics room, BTW, with my goal and progress.

Here Today, Gone Fishing

Next weeks starts the big push towards Ironman Florida. So today after a little get together at the park with some friends and their kids, I am going fishing. Its the first time in about two years which is much to long.

I love fishing as much as I love running. I have fished extensively throughout the south Pacific, Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana. Oh good Lord, to fish again in Montana! I own more poles than running shoes.

I am going up with a good friend and his son, just to get the lines wet most likely. In any regards, its a catch and release day for me, if I happen to catch anything.
